Manufacturing Process Engineer/Physicist

Iridian requires a Manufacturing Process Specialist to work in its Thin Film Deposition Operations. The company has a set of highly automated thin film coating machines for the manufacture of very complex thin film optical filters. This position reports to the General Manager but will also require close co-operation with the research and development groups in the company.
The duties will include:

Track production yields and use SPC tools in analysis

Identify and quantify failure modes in manufacturing
-
Resolve issues that affect performance and manufacturing efficiencies

Provide technical input to manufacturing technologists as issues arise
-
Assess the level of manufacturability of new products or processes transferred into manufacturing and facilitate NPI (new product introduction)

Provide documentation for new product & process introduction
- Facilitate the training required for new product & process introduction
Qualifications:
-
-
B.Sc or B.Eng
-
At least 5 years experience in manufacturing
-
At least 3 years experience in the use of vacuum technology; ability to troubleshoot vacuum problems
-
Experience in optical thin film deposition would be a distinct advantage
-
Knowledge of manufacturing process control tools including SPC
-
Proven ability to maintain and improve manufacturing processes
-
Experience in manufacturing documentation
