\u4fe1\u9053\u6ee4\u6ce2\u7247\u7528\u4e8e\u5206\u79bb\u7279\u5b9a\u6ce2\u957f\u7684\u4fe1\u9053\uff0c\u800c CWDM \u4fe1\u9053\u6ee4\u6ce2\u7247\u7684\u4f5c\u7528\u662f\u4ece\u4e00\u7ec4\u4fe1\u53f7\u4e2d\u5206\u79bb\u51fa\u4e00\u4e2a\u5355\u4fe1\u9053\u4fe1\u53f7\u3002\u5176\u5b9e\u73b0\u65b9\u6cd5\u662f\u8ba9\u5bf9\u5e94\u4e8e CWDM \u4fe1\u9053\u6ee4\u6ce2\u7247\u6ce2\u957f\u7684\u5149\u900f\u8fc7\uff0c\u800c\u8ba9\u5176\u5b83\u6ce2\u957f\u7684\u5149\u88ab\u53cd\u5c04\u56de\u53bb\u3002\u7528\u540c\u6837\u7684\u6ee4\u6ce2\u7247\u53ef\u4ee5\u5c06\u4e00\u4e2a\u4fe1\u9053\u7684\u4fe1\u53f7\u52a0\u5230\u4e00\u7ec4\u4e2d\u7684\u5176\u5b83\u7684\u4fe1\u9053\u3002CWDM \u4fe1\u9053\u6ee4\u6ce2\u7247\u7684\u5173\u952e\u6307\u6807\u6709 IL \u5cf0\u503c\u3001\u6ce2\u7eb9\u3001\u901a\u5e26\u5bbd\u5ea6\u3001\u4ee5\u53ca\u9694\u79bb\u5ea6\u3002\u5176\u901a\u5e26\u5bbd\u5ea6\u548c\u9694\u79bb\u70b9\u5fc5\u987b\u4e0e CWDM \u7cfb\u7edf\u7684\u4fe1\u9053\u95f4\u9694\u76f8\u5339\u914d\u3002\u5168\u8c31 CWDM \u8054\u76df (FCA) \u63d0\u51fa\u7684\u6700\u65b0\u6807\u51c6\u662f 20 \u7eb3\u7c73\u7684\u4fe1\u9053\u95f4\u8ddd\uff0c\u8986\u76d6\u4ece 1271-1611 \u7eb3\u7c73\u7684\u6ce2\u957f\u8303\u56f4\u3002FCA \u63d0\u8bae\u6240\u6709 18 \u4e2a\u901a\u9053\u7684\u901a\u5e26\u5bbd\u5ea6\u5e94\u5927\u4e8e 14 \u7eb3\u7c73\u3002<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-229\" (PB)\u3010\u7eb3\u7c73\u3011<\/h2>\n<p>\u6307\u4e00\u4e2a\u9ad8\u900f\u5c04\u7387\u533a\u57df\u3002\u5b83\u901a\u5e38\u662f\u7531\u901a\u5e26\u5bbd\u5ea6\u3001<a href=\"#_peak_IL\">IL \u548c\u901a\u5e26\u5bbd\u5ea6\u4e5f\u53ef\u4ee5\u6307\u5b9a\u901a\u5e26\u3002\u4f8b\u5982\uff0c\u4e2d\u5fc3\u6ce2\u957f\u5728 -0.3 \u5206\u8d1d\uff1a1550 +\/- 0.5 \u7eb3\u7c73 \u901a\u5e26\u5728 -0.3 \u5206\u8d1d &gt; 40 Cable TV applications.\u00a0 In addition, they are often used to provide the wireless backbone for the latest 4G wireless networks\u00a0(LTE).\u00a0 They are a low cost approach for systems that use non-cooled laser sources, and are an alternative to more expensive DWDM components based on 100 GHz or 200 GHz channel spacing.\u00a0 CWDM channel filters are used to isolate a specific wavelength channel whereas CWDM channel splitters are used to isolate a band of channels.<\/p><h2>CWDM Channel Filters<\/h2><p>A CWDM channel filter\u2019s purpose is to separate a single channel\u2019s signal from a group of signals. This is realized by allowing the wavelengths of light corresponding to the CWDM channel filter to pass while all others are reflected. This same filter may be used to add a channel\u2019s signal to a group of other channels.<\/p><p>The critical specifications of a CWDM channel filter are peak IL, ripple, pass-band width and isolation. The pass-band width and isolation points must be matched to the channel spacing of the of the CWDM system. The latest standard proposed by the Full Spectrum CWDM Alliance (FCA) is a channel spacing of 20 nm starting from 1271 nm up to 1611 nm. The FCA proposed a pass-band width of greater than 14 nm for all of the 18 channels.<\/p><p><img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-229\" src=\"http:\/\/localhost:8888\/iridian\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/CWDM-Tutorial-1.gif\" alt=\"CWDM-Tutorial-1\" width=\"360\" height=\"231\" \/><\/p><p><img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-230\" src=\"http:\/\/localhost:8888\/iridian\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/CWDM-Tutorial-2.gif\" alt=\"CWDM-Tutorial-2\" width=\"360\" height=\"222\" \/><\/p><h2>Center Wavelength [nm]<\/h2><p>This is the average or mean wavelength based on two points on the curve at the same transmittance level. A typical level is at Full Width Half Maximum (FWHM) or -3 dB. At this level any ripple or other pass-band defect will not effect the center wavelength calculation.<\/p><h2>Pass-band (PB) [nm]<\/h2><p>This is a region of high transmittance. It is usually specified by a pass-band width, <a href=\"#_peak_IL\">peak IL<\/a> and <a href=\"#_Ripple\">ripple<\/a>. The pass-band width is specified in nm at a certain transmittance level relative to the peak transmittance.<\/p><p>e.g. PB @ -0.3 dB:\u00a0 1530 nm-1570 nm<\/p><p>The pass-band can also be specified by defining a center wavelength (CWL) and pass-band width.<\/p><p>e.g. CWL @ -0.3 dB: 1550+\/-0.5 nm<\/p><p>PB @ -0.3 dB > 40 nm<\/p><h2>Isolation<\/h2><p>This is the difference between the minimum transmittance within the channel filter\u2019s passband and the maximum transmittance of the same filter within another channel\u2019s passband. Typically channels immediately adjacent the passband are less isolated than non-adjacent channels.<\/p><h2>Polarization Dependent Loss (PDL) [dB]<\/h2><p>Polarization Dependent Loss (PDL) can be defined as the maximum change observed in transmittance or reflectance at a given wavelength as the light is cycled through all possible polarization states.\u00a0 The PDL can be calculated based on the difference between the s- and p-polarization states of light, i.e.,<\/p><p>Transmittance PDL(l)[dB]\u00a0 = Ts(l)[dB] - Tp(l)[dB]<\/p><h2><a id=\"_peak_IL\"><\/a>Peak Insertion Loss (IL) [dB]<\/h2><p>Peak insertion loss is the value of maximum transmission\u00a0 in the passband.<\/p><p>Peak IL =\u00a0 T(l<sub>Peak<\/sub>) [dB]<\/p><p>e.g.\u00a0 Peak IL < 0.1 dB within passband<\/p><h2><a id=\"_Ripple\"><\/a>Ripple [dB]<\/h2><p>Usually the passband ripple is specified as the difference between the maximum and minimum transmittance in the passband width (see above figure).\u00a0 Note that this passband ripple is different from that of a substrate etalon ripple.<\/p><h2>Reflectance Isolation [dB]<\/h2><p>This is difference between the\u00a0maximum reflectance in the pass-band and the minimum reflectance in the reflect-band. The minimum reflectance in the reflect-band is very often close to 0 dB so that the reflection isolation is typically dominated by the maximum reflectance in the passband. For filters with no absorption, the transmittance and reflectance must\u00a0 add up to unity.\u00a0 Hence, there is often a relationship between the specified reflection isolation in the passband and the sum of the peak IL and ripple in the passband, i.e.,<\/p><p>If the reflection isolation is specified to be -15 dB (corresponding to a reflectance of 3.2%), then as T+R =1, the minimum transmittance in the passband is given by T=100-3.2=96.8 % which is equivalent to a 0.14 dB transmittance loss.\u00a0 Hence, to achieve a reflectance isolation of -15 dB, the transmittance loss must be less than 0.14 dB.\u00a0\u00a0 Note that if a minimum allowed transmittance loss of 0.2 dB\u00a0 is specified along with a reflectance isolation of -15 dB, then the overriding transmittance loss to achieve the necessary reflectance isolation is 0.14 dB.<\/p><h2>CWDM Channel Splitters<\/h2><p>In an 8-channel CWDM system, a channel filter will transmit 1 channel and reflect all other channels but a CWDM channel splitter is typically designed to transmit either 2 or 4 CWDM channels and reflect the remaining channels. Figure A below shows Iridian's standard channel splitter filters for the upper 8 channels. Each of the channel splitters, drawn in blue, shows either 2 or 4 passing channels in green and the remaining reflecting channels in red.<\/p><p><img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-231\" src=\"http:\/\/localhost:8888\/iridian\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/CWDM-Tutorial-3.gif\" alt=\"CWDM-Tutorial-3\" width=\"360\" height=\"284\" \/><\/p><p>Figure A. (a) 4x0 CWDM channel splitter, (b) 2x0 CWDM channel splitter and (c) LPF8-C2-C1 CWDM channel splitter.<\/p><h2>Channel splitter customization<\/h2><p>Depending on the needs of the system designer, the center wavelength of the 2x0 and the 4x0 can be customized to pass different channel groups. Similarly the position of the edge of a short pass or a long pass channel splitter can be customized.
